What good is unbanning peoples accounts that got hacked if everything they have has been sold or deleted and they cannot get it back..

A. Account security

The account owner is responsible for the security of the account and that it's sufficiently protected. Note that Nostalrius staff does not recover hacked accounts. You should:

Never share your account information;
Have a unique and complicated password that does not exceed 16 characters;
Connect yourself from a secure computer and network;
Never download unsafe files that might contain viruses/malware.

Their only remaining option was to hack existing accounts with an account database from another server, as there was no other possibility for them to get new accounts.

Forceberg didn't have an account on any other private server. The only way for his account security to be breached would've been a keylogger, bruteforcing or a compromisation somewhere in nost.
