Ratio between weapon skill increase and hit % increase?

by Dr. Doom » Thu Jan 07, 2016 2:06 pm

Wondering what is the practical effect of the racial bonuses, or Edgemaster's Handguards.

How much hit does +5 or +7 weapon skill add?

Thanks for your time.

the major reason behind using weapon skill increases is reducing the amount of glancing blows

The first five points of +Skill *may* (depending on the formula used on Nostalrius) 2% hit against a +3 level target though.

it will not reduce amount of glancing blows, always 40% of attacks will be Glancing Blows

it will normalize the damage reduced from glancing blows.

(310 is cap) for 0% dmg reduce, (305 is human racial) for 15% dmg reduce , (300 is non weapon skill) for 25% dmg reduce per glancing blow.

0.04 per skill is "when weapon skill exceeds that of your opponents def rating".

You do not exceed this in raid, only on low level mobs is this correct. But thank you for your attempt.

As mentioned above, 305 is around 2 hit. 310 is another 1.12% hit. Anything after DR takes it's toll and is not worth exceeding with gear.

The hard cap is 315 on Nostalrius, although it's not worth to go beyond 310.

Test it yourself and you will see.

Use a low level alt druid in cat form is the easiest test since cats always have max skill.

Say you are level 20. Parse events.

Fight level 23 mob with only auto attack. (have a healer will you to minimize down time for larger sample size).

The mob will 115 def to your 100 skill. Parse all mipointsses.

do the same for a level 22 mob. You will notice you are missing 2% less. .

Do the same for a level 21. You will again hit more often but not as great of an increase going from lvl 23 to lvl 22.

Use common since here. Why is it easier to gring lower level mob ove something 3, 4, 5, higher? Because of the def to weapon skill differences. You miss a lot more (use special hits to discount glancings).

Your arguement of 0.04, i should only have 1% chance more to miss a mob 5 levels high with a special, not the case, you miss about 13% more times.

Dont tell me im wrong and tell me to test. You lack common sense and the ability to perform entry level statistics, that is your problem.
