This has been removed from the game (don't know when ...), and added once again in patch 2.3.0.
If you have any source that could confirm that freezing multiple targets was possible in 1.12, we will fix it.

It is already working as expected on Nostalrius. Maybe your first trap has been dispelled by the heartbeat system ?

Impossible, as I was using the testing dummies outside of Ironforge.

should be read as "hunters lose the ability to trap multiple targets at once", "adieu to double trapping".

That means prior to 2.3.0, hunters were able to control multiple mobs at once with traps.

The video I linked is from 2005, and you can see double trapping in effect at 1:09 (2 mobs frozen at 1:25ish mark)

I just tested it, and i could trap 2 target with freezing trap.

Maybe related to dummies :(

Aherm, sorry to be the bringer of bad news Mr.

When you leave combat with a mob/npc/dummy, your trap will cease to work. Thus you cannot trap 2 dummies at the same time, as when you feign death, your 1st trap will disappear since you left combat with the "mob". You should know this..
No member ever downed a raid boss, by dying for his guild. He killed the raid boss, by DPS'ing it down to zero.

but in order to trap 2 mobs at the same time you HAVE to feign death duringthe duration of the first trap

You should be able to trap 2 mobs at once, I saw this many times during Vanilla and BC.
Only the actually decent Hunters did it, though.
But like Clank said, the issue might be related to dummies if it wasn't working on them.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying.. In a group, you can trap more than one mob, because the rest of your group keeps the target in combat, but if you, say, pull 2 panthers in STV, and 1 is trapped by your already existing trap on the floor, that is fine. But when you Feign Death, they will both leave combat (and trap) and path back to their positions. This too goes for dummies - you cannot solo trap 2 mobs/NPCs/dummies - the combat system prevents this. In PvP/dungeons/raids, this is of course not a problem. Get it?

Part of what Cardk is saying is true, due to the nature of the dummies Nostalrius implemented, where they were designed to allow the player to drop combat faster than usual, the double freezing trap is impossible.

However you can easily solo trap 2 mobs, if it is working as it should, on real NPCs.
All you have to do is pull a mob and have your pet hit it before the NPC runs into your freezing trap. Then pull a second mob and make sure your pet hits that mob aswell before you feign death and trap that.
This will lock both npcs in combat with your pet causing them not to reset.

Being able to trap two targets with freezing trap should be easier to test on players though, since freezing trap duration doesn't end when you lose combat with players.
