This idea is present in Skyforge. Of course, Skyforge is a game where you grind just so you can start grinding in preparation for a grind.

The grind needs to be redefined because combat is a core part of most games. How do you avoid killing stuff over and over if that's the basis of the game? You don't try to avoid it, you improve the combat and make it meaningful.

When a character doesn't progress in multiple ways, like drastically changing their spells (size, shape, visuals, damage, effects, speed, difficulty, etc) then combat gets old. There should be as much contrast as possible, like starting with a match and ending with meteors.

And when the world is illogical then it feels dead, boring, and artificial, like mobs that stand around in visual range without attacking you while you kill all their friends by yourself. Instead, they should attack you when you enter their "visual range" and run as fast as possible, like a real warrior would, not slowly walk over to hit you with a stick. This problem is pervasive in most games. And mobs like giants and dragons are perfect examples. How many dragons are slow and lame? A dragon should be fierce and fast to say the least. You should fear it because of the power it expresses. The world must make sense to feel alive.

The grind is nullified with those two factors. Killing stuff over and over isn't a problem if the combat is fun and progressive in a logical and meaningful world with an epic character you earned and built after starting out in rags.

TL;DR:
Overwatch porn was a hot term for various pornsites. Mainly because of Tracer.
