Full Name: Rothwald Beryl Rothwald XVII
In-game Name: Rothwald
Nicknames: Ak-Ak-Ak-Ak, Daughter of Ak-Ak-Ak
Faction: Alliance
Race: 'Bastard' Dwarf (mixture of all 3 dwarven clans)
Class: Shadow Priest
Age: Hard to tell
Gender: Female
Hair: Blacker than the blackest black times infinity
Skin: Medium gray, scarred and coarse
Eyes: An intense shade of yellow-green that reminds one of acid.
Height: ~4' (No proper measurement recorded)
Weight: ~85 lbs. (No proper measurement recorded)
Place of Residence: Brewnall Village
Place of Birth: Rumored to have been born in a well; this is likely false
Known relatives: Biological: Dwarven mother and father, no siblings. Adoptive: Father, several maternal figures, no siblings.
Religion/Philosophy: Several unnamed kobold gods, Lord of Plague, Elune, the Earthmother, the Light
Alignment: True Neutral
Group/Guild affiliation: The Valiant Dawn
Guild Rank: Gallant
Enemies: Nobody specific; she holds few grudges.
Likes: Exploring things by herself or with a close friend; especially swamps, tombs and other places where disease and death are bountiful. Loves venomous snakes and oozes and spends a lot of time studying them.
Dislikes: Loud noises, large crowds, bars/taverns, cold weather, dogs (is fond of the Worgen, however). Can't stand human paladins, they tend to be "self-righteous, narcissistic, over-zealous racist scum-crumplers" in her experience. (There are a few that she tolerates or likes - most notably Valcristo, her guild leader.)
Favorite Foods: Pickled meat - which has been very hard to find since she left the kobold way of life.
Favorite Drinks: Melon Juice and milk. Can't stand alcohol, which many dwarves ostracize her for.
Favorite Colors: Black, purple/green, yellow, red, and brown, in that order.
Weapons of Choice: A bone-bladed dagger with a well-worn and torn leather sheathe, a heirloom of the Ak family of kobolds. It features many scratches and stains of suspicious origin.
Special Abilities: Like all shadow priests, she is able to tap into the ever-present 'dark energy' that manifests itself around things that are dead or dying. Capable of minor healing spells; a conglomerate of powers stemming from the Kobold gods, Elune, the Earthmother and the Light.
Personality: Introverted, but adventurous. Mixture of dwarven bloodlines resulted in minor kleptomania and something resembling high-functioning autism. Very honest, but is an excellent liar when she needs to be. Warms up to people slowly, but is generally good-natured and loyal to those close to her. Waxes the whole brooding-and-poetic thing at times. Really into poison, venom and disease and is almost fully immune to them for unknown reasons. Has had no formal schooling, but knows many things about many things most people miss. Very fast learner; shows savant-like traits toward divine and arcane magic.
Positive Personality Traits: Wily, bright, honest, good-humored, generous, loyal, optimistic, curious, creative, strong-willed
Negative Personality Traits: Reclusive, poor social skills, naive, stubborn, violent, kleptomaniac, illogical, unstable
Misc. Quirks: Curls up into a ball when she sleeps. Enjoys reptiles and insects, but dislikes cats and birds, and terrified of dogs. Refuses to wear anything made of metal.
History: The daughter of a forbidden romance between Rothwald Rothwald XVI, a Bronzebeard noble, and Kavlane Stoneheel, a Wildhammer/Dark Iron gypsy. The council of Ironforge despised her mixed heritage and, not noticing she was only two years old, ordered her exiled to Loch Modan. Her father, the previous Rothwald, had stayed behind in Ironforge for 'official business', so Kavlane accompanied her to their new home - a small village of tents where the Farstrider Lodge is today. During the week-long trip there, the two were ambushed by a group of Filthy Paw kobolds. Kavlane was killed, but the tiny Rothwald was spared. Their wise (by Kobold standards, that is) leader, Ak-Ak-Ak, son of Ak-Ak, decided to take her in as one of his own. Even at such a young age, the Kobold geomancers sensed something in her; not power, but a primal ability to understand and wield it. The kobolds taught her all the primitive magic they could, divine, arcane or otherwise. She spent her childhood and adolesence with the kobolds, and by that time she had become the tribe's most powerful and respected geomancer, shaman, warlock, cleric, fortune teller, seer, necromancer, alchemist, and Krik-Meepo (an ancient and useless kobold magic that makes rocks jiggle).
Eventually, after the entire Ak tribe died out (Dwarves live much longer than kobolds), she had no home and no friends. She spent six months living isolated in a cave; it was only when a duo of Dwarven adventurers wandered into the cave and found her asleep in a broken wagon. The two carried her to Thelsamar, where she woke up, confused yet incredibly comfortable, in one of the local inn's beds. The friendly people of Thelsamar taught her Dwarvish and Common, and were surprised with how fast she learned them. After becoming fully fluent in both languages after three months, she asked if anyone around knew magic. No one qualified to teach divine or arcane magic currently resided in Thelsamar, but the local folk, friendly as they are, accompanied her to Ironforge, where she quickly became somewhat proficient many things. She learned fel magic and arcane magic from gnome warlocks and mages, Elune-based divine magic from a Night Elven priest, and of course the Light from High Priest Rohan. However, her favorite and most-used powers stemmed from her time studying under Belekoth the Odd, a human necrolyte residing in the sewers. She provided herself as a guinea pig of sorts - she was the perfect cantidate, being immune to many of the poisons and diseases Belekoth employed. She spent most of her waking hours with him; either being tested on, or practicing the plague spells on rats. This continued for about twenty years, until the local courier shouted something about Coldridge Valley needing some sort of assistance with the trolls. Being the curious and adventurous dwarf she was, she jumped at the opportunity, and left Ironforge without even saying goodbye.
