Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

I have the following question: if i create a character in the realm " Nostalrius begins pve" does it mean that i couldnt do battlegrounds?

The PvP or PvE realm status only affect world pvp and not battlegrounds.

Im a bit confused
