Why Sinister When You Can Backstab?

Why Sinister When You Can Backstab?

by Idyll2992 » Thu Apr 07, 2016 12:34 pm

Most people on this forum that post leveling guides for Rogue defer to Combat swords spec. I need to know, is this because they think they can't use back stab (without gouge and stun locking), or because even though you can use back stab against mobs, Combat swords is still faster?

*Am I the only one that knows how to back stab mobs? (turn spam, jump behind, run through not hard at all)

I keep watching Rogues spam sinister, and it seems so much slower than my backstabbing.

Not to condescend^^^, but isn't 20% damage, 30% crit, 30% crit damage (with higher base still) better damage than any sword Combat build available?

Yeah i noticed the jump/spam backstab thing.

But after grinding 1-2 levels you will notice spamming sinister + evis requires much less brain activity. I have to admit this is very usefull at leveling.

Backstab without stunlock requires brain activity, it's just a pain in the ass when you have to do it consistently when grinding.

Also, the damage from BS are very dépendent from your weapon, and requires Imp BS + Opportunity + Lethality to be really interesting, while going Combat allows you to spend all your points in one tree, and get +5% Parry, Riposte (by far the best leveling talent imo), Précision, Blade Flurry and Sword Spec, which are all amazing talents for grinding.

Also, Daggers are harder to come by while you can go Sword / Maces easily before getting Sword Spec - and there are lots of swords anyway.
