How to Fix Annoying Gun Sound Effects

How to Fix Annoying Gun Sound Effects

Hello Hunters.

I spent some time tinkering and I figured a way to fix the gun sound problem. Let's face it. The sound is horrible.

The solution is simple:

Replace the original sound effects with sound effects that are better. This method is not in violation with the rules, by the way.
The method is similar to the way you change the fonts without an addon.

Downloads:
The folder structure:

Code: Select all
World of Warcraft\Sound\Item\Weapons\Gun

If you don't have these folders already, make them.

The "Gun" folder is where we're going to put the new sound effects.

Heavy Canon Sound Pack
HD Fire and Reload sound. A personal favorite!

Mute Guns / Lower Volume

There are two different two folders (i.e. two different fixes).
a) No Firing Sound
b) Original Sound with Lower Volume

Both have a folder named "Sound" inside them. Take the one you want and put int WoW Directory

Lower Volume (Lower than the one above)

Even Lower Volume (Lower than the one above and even lower than the one above that)
http://www.filedropper.com/evenlowervolume

Heavy Canon Sound Pack 2
http://www.filedropper.com/heavycanonsoundpack2
Same concept as the other Heavy Canon pack. Just different sounds
Of course this opens the posibility of using custom sounds as well, but the client will only play very specific file formats when firing a weapon. I expanded on this in a topic in addons and macros section.

It all seems very cool, but I'm not sure how to make it work. I diddnt have any path as described (Only sound "item" I have is in my data folder, my Sound.MPQ). So I tried to make a folder path as described, put it in the main wow folder first, and then tried the data folder, added the premade sound files, named them and all that, but sadly it dosnt work. What am I missing here?

Changing a file coud get u flag for hacking, not that changing the horrible gun sound is cheating but the anti-cheat system could flag u and get u banned, be carefull.

I've had my gun sounds changed since nost launch and for years on other private servers, so much better then the default sound.

The sound is of a silenced m4.

Put the sounds folder in the data folder D:\Games\World of Warcraft 1.12.1 Vanilla\Data

It should look like this when going through it. D:\Games\World of Warcraft 1.12.1 Vanilla\Data\Sound\Item\Weapons\Gun

solution is simple:

Step 1. Get to 60
Step 2. Never use a gun again.
