Vampiric Embrace and Mana Burn

Vampiric Embrace and Mana Burn

by Warchief0 » Fri Dec 11, 2015 7:08 am

Hey, Nostalrius community! I was playing WoW yesterday with my brother who plays a priest, when he asked me why doesn't his mana burn (which causes shadow damage) heal him with vampiric embrace? I was wondering if this was just a server bug, (since only patch 1.9) hasn't been implemented yet or if this was just something that was overlooked by Blizzard? Your thoughts and opinions are welcomes here! Thanks! :D

I'm gonna guess it's because the tooltip for vamp embrace is "Shadow spell damage", meaning a damaging spell under the shadow tree. http://imgur.com/nLNLsbr

However, Mana burn is in the discipline tree. http://imgur.com/04BPEer

Not sure if this is a bug or if I am interpreting this correctly.

would have to look at the ability vampiric embrace... if shadow damage wands proc the heal, then that's a different story.. mana burn is not a "shadow damage" producing spell like mind blast or mind flay. I don't see why mana burn would count as a direct shadow damage spell as it is not the primary function of the spell. it's to burn mana, and the damage caused is shadow. but if shadow wands work on vamp embrace, then yeah, mana burn should work too..

start researching vampiric embrace threads about mana burn proccing it or shadow wands to get the answer

I noticed today in ZG on snake boss, that mana burn now gave back health with vamp embrace. To confirm I tested it. http://imgur.com/5PdMNYN

But a shadow wand does not http://imgur.com/JCTWrVn

Obviously the "any Shadow spell damage you deal" rule stands, as a wand is not a spell.

Although vamp embrace don't heal us with mana burn I see it many times proc the Blackout. And blackout also needs shadow spell damage. So its kind of strange. Not healing but procs the blackout.
