PvP sets from Scholomance mini bosses

by Armilus » Mon Dec 22, 2014 6:40 pm

On every private server I've tried early content is made a lot easier with high defence tanks wearing full deathbone. Bloodmail boots and cadaverous chest are also good best in slot items for fury warriors and rogues.

Problem is, these sets weren't available until patch 1.11 when naxx was releases to help new players get into pvp.

Will these sets be available at launch or released with tier 0.5?

Your prooflink is not entirely correct.
Sets like Cadaverious and Deathbone were available since the beginning of the game
Here http://wow.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=21&mid=1105032975272612450#12 is a forum message mentioning those, dated Jan 06 2005 which is really early vanilla, way before 1.10.0
In 1.10, however, those sets have received a major buff, it appears. http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_1.10.0 mentions an item upgrade for Scholomance loot among other things, and http://wow.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=21&mid=1141845763102202071#1 dated Mar 08 2006, merely 20 days before 1.10 release, mentions the upgrades that those items receive. So I'd guess its a matter of stat changing, which has been numerously mentioned as pretty much impossible, since it's incredibly hard to find all the stats the items had before buff patches, and would also bring about the need for changing of raids, character talents, mechanics... Forget it. It would be awesome, yeah, but forget it. Not happening.

Ah. Guess my link is wrong. I knew a ton of items were re-vamped around 1.10, didn't think scholo sets were part of it.

The loot changes referred to in the official patch 1.10 notes aren't only about the scholo sets, apparently a lot of dungeon loot was upgraded at that point and most bosses dropped green items before the change.

Thanks for the better links!

There are a lot of old DBs floating around, dating all the way back to patch 1.0. It's certainly possible, just requires some digging skills. Also note that this DB information is most likely correct, since it's very easy to rip item information without any loss of data since all of its information is shown to the client, unlike say creatures, where a lot of the voodoo such as scripts only happens at the server-side.

I'd like to hear the devs opinions on this.

I found some info regarding the set, however I cant find the individual values as of now.

Pre 1.10:
Agi 47, Spi 10, sta 36, str 44, AP 60.
Post 1.10:
Agi 8, sta 59, str 8, AP 220.

I believe these to be the correct values post 1.10 :

Cadaverous Armor
8 str / 8 agi / 60 ap

Cadaverous Belt
12 stam / 40 ap

Cadaverous Leggings
18 stam / 52 ap

Cadaverous Walkers
20 stam / 24 ap

Cadaverous Gloves
9 stam / 44 ap

Don't quote me on this though, this is from an old excel file I have on my computer. The numbers seem to confirm Netherfrost's total, except that the (3) Set gives +10 ap, so overall AP should be 230 :/

Those are the correct 1.12 values, and they can also be found in most vanilla databses which are more or less trustworthy. My total didn't include setbonus, hence I didnt mention resistance or defense either.

This http://web.archive.org/web/200606152151 ... witem=7909 page links to just about every boss (everything dropped aquamarine). From here you can get to boss pages and from the boss pages you can get to item pages. Once on the item page, use the timeline graph at the top of the page to see the items stats at different time periods.

The 5man item re-vamp took place with patch 1.9 (January 2006) so if an item was never seen before that time, it probably didn't exist until 1.9.

Thanks for the data diggin' Armilus. The same web.archive method was used to datamine the old pvp item stats pre-buffed versions of them. And after that whole debate and all the data was posted and compiled in another thread here, the Nostalrius dev team added the pvp sets and items as one of the numerous things that will also be progressively released and buffed accordingly to Vanilla retail times.

By doing this method, it makes it so that the item balance isn't totally skewed out of proportion on release as there are tons of things WAY stronger in statistics in 1.12.1 version, which is something that could take 1-2 years after release to even ever get close to becoming the ACTUAL stats of said thing.

Hopefully, the devs can take some time looking into the older versions of more gear as we know they are already doing so with a lot of other stuff. So why not try to to it with as much as they possibly can.
I know the devs read every post here.
So my suggestion to the devs is: If you want to compile all the info and data on older versions of items and sets, then you can ask the community here for help.

Askental and Armilus here f.ex. have already provided us with solid proof and stats for some of the sets. And I have myself compiled all the pvp items in a list posted elsewhere.

I think it's just something that the community can really help with, but it's up to the devs if they really want to take it all to heart and actually execute on it.

Ya if the dev's want to have the old stats on items from high level 5mans (and remove items from the drop table that didn't exist until 1.9) I would be happy to compile as complete a list as I can. One list of item stat changes and another list showing drop table changes before and after 1.9 (some items moved, for example Hand of Justice used to drop off General Angerforge).

When AQ was released there was a big divide between members of established raiding guilds and new players. Any guild going into AQ40 couldn't recruit anyone unless they were from another guild because the pre-raid gear was so far behind BWL gear. The dev's decided to buff the pre-raid gear and add the t0.5 quest line to address this. The intent was to increase pre-raid gear to a level somewhere between MC and BWL gear, which is why pre-raid gear is better than MC gear in 1.12.

It ends up having a very big impact on MC raiding. 1.12 talents also make MC and BWL easier but I think the gear changes have an even bigger impact.
