I don't see how creating a super-advanced custom addon like that is cheating. Actually, it's been a common practice to do things like this in retail since 2005. Even today, the top guilds in the world have in-house addons, especially DBM-type addons, since they're progressing on bosses before they've been killed, so accurate timers don't exist.

If all it did was track what a boss does or should do, then I'd be shocked if they got so much as a warning for it, much less a ban. There has to be more to the story than that.
