SpamThrottle: Vanilla addon to reduce chat spam

Hey, really good addon. It removed the annoying goldseller spam. However, I seem to have difficulty with general chat and trade chat after I installed the addon. Like if i do /2 or /1 in Stormwind the text I typed just remains /1 or /2. It doesn't switch to trade or general chat after I press spacebar. Any ideas?

I'm not sure about that one. Two possibilities that i can think of:

1) Do you have any other addons, like Prat installed? If you have another chat modifier, it's possible for a conflict to happen. Because the original API required a kludgy kind of hook to intercept the chat handler (rather than the smoother way they introduced in 2.0), it may not be possible to avoid it.

2) Sometimes the chat channels just mess up, especially if your client crashes. Try exiting the game, removing the WDB folder, and restarting the client.

Other than that, not much that I can suggest.

Let me know if you have any problems. To install, you'd need to "Download ZIP", extract the file, then move the SpamThrottle directory into your ../Interface/Addons folder.

@Arael - no, what you are suggesting is a whitelist. I haven't put anything like that in the addon yet.

Can you? Or can you tell me a similar one? I would help a LOT when you need to find a group.

@Areal - No, no plans to add that. It is quite a divergence from the core SpamThrottle intent. If I added it in to ST, it would make it really complex to use, and I try to avoid that. And I just don't have enough time to launch a new addon.

Bumping in case there are folks who need to selectively filter what they see in various conversation channels, thereby improving their game experience.

This is a good addon, really a must have imo.

The only thing i miss in it is a whisper by lvl restriction filter,
like the retail addon badboy have where i can set it to 60,
and the only ones who can send me whispers are lvl 60s,
with exceptions being people in you're own guild and friend list.

There was an addon for this back in the day called Jspam,
have not ben lucky to find one that works with 1.12 version,
so i will fix it when i got the time. But would also be cool to only
have to have one single addon for all chat spam related issues.

Might use this one as inspiration or something of that nature.

I'll have a look. This should be available in the general database the ST builds to determine factions of characters (based on it's original start on a server that had a converged Horde/Alliance World channel).
