About us
Epoch of Thought was founded by me (Lne) on Bloodscalp less than a month after wow was first released. We have a core of WoW-veterans with hardcore raiding experience from Vanilla WoW and onward. The guild continued to be a top raiding guild on Bloodscalp for nearly a decade. I always loved the joy of 40-man raids and the organization it allowed. My core and I created this guild with the sole intent of rebuilding the guild to relive some of our glory days of raiding when it was actually hard .
What we're looking for are members who are dedicated, mature and committed to work together as we re-conquer Molten Core, BWL, and beyond!
Requirements to join
We feel a responsibility toward our current members and our future ones, that we recruit and retain based on quality, not quantity. Therefore put forth the following requirements for applicants:
1. Be flexible
There's more to life than WoW, who knew! Most of us have actively raided during Vanilla retail, which is quite a few years ago. We're all a few years older and some of us have kids, busy work schedules, etc. (I have 2 kids, a wife who raids (girls actually play wow), and I work as a professional with one of those fancy degrees that takes 7 to 9 years to achieve). We ask our members to understand and agree that although we are PvE raiding guild, you probably won't be raiding five nights a week; at least not in a primary raid group.
We raid at 1 am server on Friday, Saturday, and Monday. This translates as 7pm EST on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday for you US Raiders (the guild has many night owl Europeans and Americans). We conduct progression-focused raiding on 2 nights a week with 1 to 2 additional days of more relaxed farm raiding. With the opening of ZG I expect that we will be fairly active every day!
Beyond this, each class has a class meeting each week generally shortly before raid times. We will appreciate any and all members who will help their guildies with 5 mans even when they don’t need anything from the dungeon.
2. Be committed
If you'd decide to join us, we ask you to put in a little effort to show us what you've got. Be committed, show an interest into your fellow guild mates and come prepared to dungeons and raids. Be ready to follow your class lead, research the fights, actively work towards gearing and preparing for raids. Know your class; help your guildies…be focused toward guild success not solely your own achievement.
3. Technology: Have a decent PC with the ability to at least listen on a voice server. We currently have Teamspeak 3 but have a Mumble server as well. We are playing a social game; most of us enjoy talking to our guildies even when we’re not raiding so being willing and able to join us is a big thing. Mods—there are required mods to help the raid function and the raid leader’s sanity…Get them use them and understand their purpose; Forums—we expect members to check the forums often…we suggest at a minimum right before you login or right before you logoff for the day…in an organization of hundreds of people the forums are the best way of keeping us all function as a well-oiled machine.
4. Be mature:
Finally, we ask that you behave like a decent human being. Being mature has nothing to do with age. We've seen kids acting more mature than adults, hence we have no strict age limit currently set in place.
What we offer!
EOT offers you the ability to earn a raiding spot. We’re currently raiding Molten Core/Onyxia/BWL successfully and just seek to solidify the classes with a few more dedicated raiders. This is a great opportunity to rediscover Vanilla raids with friends who will greatly appreciate your help.
One or two roles in guild leadership are also available for outstanding candidates.
As we continue perfecting our team, you can be a part of the process. Your input will be appreciated and we respect everyone’s opinion so long as they are coherently and respectfully delivered.
Join us, and become part of a mature, structured and serious environment focused entirely on PvE and Friendship! We are friends first and foremost; join us and you will join a group of friends many who have met in real life and know that wow is not very fun when you’re raiding anonymously. This guild is a community…the type of community that has died in retail, and we can’t wait for you to join us.
Voice chatting—Teamspeak 3 is available and used daily.
Raid times. EOT raids at 1 am server on Friday, Saturday, and Monday. This translates as 7pm EST on Thursday, Friday, and Sunday for you US Raiders. We intend to conduct progression focused raiding on and 2 nights a week with 1 to 2 additional days of more relaxed farm raiding.
Who we need: We never turn away great raiders or good people (regardless of whether they want to raid or never want to raid): Based on our last Molten Core Raid, I would estimate that we could benefit from the following
Only those raiding spec’d or willing to spec appropriately for raids will be considered for raid spots (sorry ferals, oomkins, eles, enh, arms, etc); even if a class is listed as 0 spots open we will still accept good people, they just need to understand they may need to wait for a raid spot…we actively try to incorporate everyone though !
We currently seek the following:
Hunters: 1-2
Mages: 2-3
Druids: 0-1 (feral is a possibility)
Warriors: 0
Shamies (resto): 0-1
Warlocks: 1-2
Rogues: 0-1
Priests: 0
So, if you are interested apply on our website, http://epochofthought.shivtr.com/ or email [email protected] a brief description of your qualifications (class level raiding/leadership experience willingness to learn anything else we should know) Please feel free to in game message Lne (GM), Cordite (Trustee), Holierthanu (Trustee), Droverlord (Officer), Holyswift (Officer), Xioyu (warlock CL), Daemonykos (Priest CL).
Hurry and join while there are still raid spots because we will leverage our experience to progress rapidly, currently 2/8 in BWL -Vael dead. Currently rebuilding our bwl team after we lost a lot of good people to legendary drop drama.
Hope you all have a wonderful Day!
