Content available at release

by Viper » Wed Feb 18, 2015 8:56 pm

Dear Community!

10 years ago, the world’s most popular MMORPG rose throughout Europe.
Today, WoW’s veteran players refer to vanilla as the golden age, and this is why Nostalrius has decided to give you the opportunity to experience this epic moment, once again!

As far as content goes, it’ll be released as seen on our timeline
The timeline is versatile in the sense that it adapts to our players’ progression and speed.
Furthermore, the players on NB will always know when to expect new content!

Aside from content, we are proud to present the item progression as an addition to our timeline, it is the first time a private server has implemented this exclusive feature. It should revive both the experience and difficulty, which the players practiced back in the day.

The Nostalrius team has done extensive research in order to be able to offer an original, consistent, and reliable timeline. This will, hopefully, push our players to their limits, the server first kills will be more challenging and feel more authentic and rewarding than ever!

Here is a general overview of some of the implementations available for the release :

1. Overall changes
Image
The maximum limit of debuff will be 8 as on retail (It was changed from 8 to 16 in patch 1.7.0)
The restoration will be mainly based on the pre-1.4 versions of Vanilla, however these modifications must maintain the balance between PvE and PvP, which, in some aspects, wasn’t the case ten years ago.
Therefore, in some cases, it has been necessary to apply some modifications to the 1.4 patch.
These cases are describe below.

2. PvE
Image
Raid preparation is a long and difficult task, which is why the available items from the PvE content will be what you could find in and before the 1.4 patch.
The item restoration doesn’t only affect the pre-raid content, it also affects loot tables of raid bosses.
The goal of these changes is to simulate the difficulty which was experienced back then.

3. Molten Core
Image
Molten Core used to be a challenge, to adapt to this, it will also be a challenge on Nostalrius.
To respect that experience, the items from the raid content will be based on pre-1.4 version, which means old tier 1 and the lack of important “off-set” items, such as the Quick Strike Ring and the Taliman Of Ephemeral Power. To clarify the tier issue, tier 2 items will be available at launch, however only the legs from Ragnaros, and head from Onyxia. We are going to undo some of the item changes in the future of NB, in the respected order, this is why all T2 items wont be obtainable in MC, as it would ruin the gearing and encounter difficulty. Naturally, the T2 items’ pre-1.4 version will be implemented as well. The famous talisman of binding shard will be available as a unique server drop.

4. PvP
Image
In order to maintain the balance between PvP and PvE, the PvP sets will be released with their old versions of the 1.4 patch, with the R14 weapons included.
Rank progression will use the pre 1.12 formula (It will be more difficult to rise in ranks).
Alterac Valley and rewards obtained from all battlegrounds won't be available at server opening.

5. Summary
The original challenge in the game will be maintained through pre-1.4 items, while keeping the game unaffected.
The restoration of old items will mainly be based on the pre-1.4 patch, with some exceptions applied, in order to respect a particular balance between PvE and PvP.
These points will evolve with the timeline:
- PvE content => pre-1.4
- Tier 2 pre-1.4 only available on Ragnaros and Onyxia
- PvP content => 1.4
- PvP factions are unlocked but the rewards will not be available at launch.

This progressive content release will maintain a balance in the game and will keep it as close as possible of the vanilla experience.

NB : The PTR realm won't be available at the start.

Stay tuned for more information and the release of our server in 10 days! ;)

I love the fact that this server will be more challenging than other 1.12.1 servers.
