I am pretty sure that after the Nostalrius team have been invited to talk with Blizzard at their campus it would be a bad move to release the database or the source code. It would at least not improve chances to get legacy realms.

I wouldn't play Blizzard legacy servers ever again, that company is a soulless money hungry beast. Private servers have so much more potential for interesting variations on the game than any Blizzard cash-cow idea could ever have.

I really do not believe that this is the reason they changed the mind about the release of source code. I think they will try to make some profit somehow.

It is an impressively complicated way to say that
(i) the source will not be available to anyone who is willing to re-create Nostalrius and
(ii) Blizzard does not want to make the legacy servers nor understands what the community is asking for.
P.S. is there a reason we should care about the replay software for Vanilla ?
So far no good news; hopefully the ``big announcement'' next week will not be another PR stunt from Blizzard.

This is called an opinion. I am pretty sure they will get something from all this and YOU will get a pristine server.
