Couldn't have said it better, but Blizzard has set the terms.
A knee-jerk reaction now would be a bad thing, give them Blizzcon, if there is nothing by the end of it, then "Start reacting."

At this point it seems that Blizzard hates another source of revenue only because it would make them admit they were wrong for ages.

Ever since I heard about Nostalrius (unfortunately when it was about to shut down), I have been longing for Blizzard to bring back Vanilla realms. I haven't played or subscribed since Vanilla, and I'm very disappointed with Blizzard's announcement today.

Very, very eager to hear the Nostalrius team's response to the Blizzard post.
