Hack Session

by Viper » Sun Feb 01, 2015 10:17 pm

Dear community,

Days go by, and it's now time to have the Hacking Session.
This session won't be open to all subscribers, only to players with hacking skills regarding Vanilla.
Hacking can be defined here as : bots, crash attempts & client modification (MPQ, taxi points, etc.).

Rules are simple : send an email to "[email protected]", explaining :
* The tools you are going to use (home-made or commercial) with their names/internet link,
* If these tools have already worked on other private servers,
* How the tools work precisely / how you intend to use it.

This information will help our team to prepare the session which will be held on 5th of February from 08:00 PM GMT+1 to 10:30 PM GMT+1 (can be eventually changed depending on your constraint).

Hacking attempt during the session will not result into a permanent ban.
Server will start in debug mode with additional tools for monitoring purposes.

Best Regards,
Nostalrius.

I believe 2:30h of hacking time to be kinda short.
I do not considered it to last over days, but maybe 4h would be a more adequate time.

This really looks like they want to release on feb. 11th, to make it exactly 10 year anniversary.

A feb 11th release would indeed be epic! Together with a sweet promo video that starts with "10 years ago.." :D

no no no no!

this is a bad idea; we still need to test strat scholo BRS Dire Maul AQ40 and naxx(unless the stress session extended to those places) and outside of instances, such as outside uldaman and outside maraudon and outside BFD

and then we need to have a questing beta that lasts for at least a month

do not pull such a stunt to release on the 11th Viper; this is a really bad idea and would probably screw over the server

I don't really agree with you...
AQ40, Bwl, DM & Naxx won't be there before a seriously long time, they don't really need to be tested right away... Even ZG & AQ20 didn't need to be present because they won't be available at first. Which leaves time to test them.

1 month of beta questing? That sounds just crazy, most quests are about dropping items or killing enemies, only what, 10% include stuff like escorts and complex mechanics? It would be 1 month of a deserted beta server imho because players would only need a few days (hours?) to test everything quest related.

The rest I'm not entirely against, meaning lvl 60 5man's but it would be easily and rapidly done (by the players, the reports, I mean.) So even if it's not for the 11th, I don't really see how it could last a lot longer before the release, but again, pure speculations here.

In any case, I trust them to do the right choice, they know very well what to do and when to do it.
