overused classes?

I'm a little bit 'confused' about my class choice. I have to work at different times, so its hard for me to find a raid spot without thinking about class choice. I play rogue now since 9 years and know how to play it, but I see loads of rogues on nostalrius and I ask myself if its worth to max a rogue for me. Any suggestions on that? Which DPS classes are still needed in 5/10 and raids?
What about Hunter?

Mage and Warlock. The dedicated raiding guilds only keep a few hunters on hand and those spots are usually always taken.

This is true for the lower and mid instances, but the higher up you go, the better off Protection is at tanking. Yes their damage sucks, but you don't go prot for damage, you go prot for survivability and superior Threat Per Second.

I'm seeing a lot of warlocks and very few mages. As a warlock with special snowflake syndrome, this sort of bothers me, especially since I'm human. Wish I could play a dwarf 'lock like on retail

As a tank you can make your own group:
Mage
Warlock
Priest
Hunter /Rogue.

Now you have only one class that is rivaling for loot and most of the time you can call dips (reserve) stuff like Baron cape as tank. So they can refuse and dont have a tank or suck it up have a tank who get the extra treatment.
Most tanks are entitled because they can. Therefore you dont see fury warriors.
