Rogue vs Hunter for end game pve?

by Tricep » Tue Mar 17, 2015 12:52 pm

Just thinking for some opinions on rogue vs hunter for raiding etc

I read somewhere on here that rogues are very squishy in raids and will often die, and sometimes even neglected due to melee dps not being viable in certain parts?

Thanks in advance.

You read a bunch of nonsense then ;).

Good rogues would top meters in vanilla, especially on a server such as Nostalrius that features the unique combination of 1.12 talents and pre 1.4 debuff slots. Fury warriors don't get their impale, meanwhile rogues are unaffected.

Melee is kinda tough in vanilla because so many of the fights are very anti-melee. It was common back in the day for guilds to sometimes just not have melee DPS on some of the fights. It remains to be seen how necessary/common this will be on this server, but it was a real thing back then because it simply wasn't possible to keep them alive during early progression raiding when gear was bad.

Hunter DPS isn't particularly good, especially in later content as they scale poorly. If it wasn't for tranq shot being necessary in some fights, the class would actually be really bad and only worth bringing because they don't compete much for gear with other classes. And for nature resust aura in AQ.

The only fight I can think of where rogues might stand around doing nothing is Shazzrah in MC. In every other fight that is 'not melee friendly' it is VERY easy to avoid the damage. If a guild says they don't use melee on that fight, it just means their melee is incapable of not standing in fire or not attacking for a bit to let debuffs drop off.
