A lot of what's been said in here doesn't do the community or the server any favors. There's nothing wrong with pointing out something that's not right or asking the staff why they decided to go with a non Classic functionality, which is against their overall goal and design for the server. I think what concerns players like Randomuser more than the simple non consequential thing he's bringing up is establishing a negative precedence. When you start making exceptions, how many is acceptable?

Finally, a sensible response.

I agree that it is unreasonable to ask for exactly 100% recreation, but this is a whole other league - they have gone out of their way to implement functionality in spite of easily accessible proof that they shouldn't. And what they should and should not do is entirely governed by what functionality was present in classic. This applies because they claim to be a 1.12.1 server.

I wouldn't mind one bit if they added infernals to every zone with goose legs and laser beam eyes - as long as they don't claim to be a 1.12.1 server.

Custom content, custom server. Saying anything else is flat out lying.

The problem is what we call "Hitlerotrotskism", which means:

We could totally agree with the fact that it's not blizzlike, we could agree with him !
But he's more focus on saying "you're not doing enough"; "you're doing shit", "you shouldn't say that", than on trying to do something useful to fix it or just talk about it in a good & useful way.

What he says is useful for the fascist enemies, not for us.

This.

You sort of said exactly what I was about to.

Well then I'll simply answer you this :

It all depends on the impact of the "custom content". If the impact is non-existent to very-low, who cares ? (No really, who ?)
If the impact is medium, well, it's starting to smell bad. I, myself, don't like custom things changing the gameplay, like really.
If the impact is high, everyone can see it so it's not worth mentioning. Here, we're talking about extremely minor impact, hence my total lack of interest. Sure, people will find reasons not to call this a 1.12.1 (and you don't have to go that far, just point out that the alterac version is not 1.12.1 and you're good) but as long as it doesn't drastically change the course of the game, either PvE or PvP, seriously, it lacks both interest and usefulness of mentioning it.

I'm sorry, I think that this whole post is a troll for those reasons alone. And for the fact that no server will ever be 100% blizzlike, some will fix bugs blizzard didn't while other will make mobs smarter...

The art of publicity never bored itself with the need of saying the truth. It's just a trick to lure people, living in our society, you should know this simple fact too.

That's all fine and well, but here is where you fail to understand:

The impact you speak of is your own personal assessment of it. Everyone's idea of an impact is unique, so you have no right to bunch them up next to eachother and say they're the same. While you may think it's inconsequential, others might not, and you're being arrogant in suggesting that you speak on the behalf of everyone else.

Excuse me? This thread has nothing to do with speaking on anyone's behalf. It serves to illuminate the fact that Nostalrius is making custom content not present in classic world of warcraft.

Do you spend that much time blinking underwater?

Meaningless terms like "custom" and "blizzlike" are just vague indications of what to expect anyway, it's like saying your server is "fast". Not everything is black and white...

Oh I'm speaking for myself, thinking it through, I can easily tell the absence of impact it shall have, feel free to disagree, it's how great ideas happen and I'm okay with that.

However, knowing the game, its mechanics and how it's played, I can basically tell this without so much as a fear of being slightly wrong.

Only if it happens will we be able to tell the impact it actually has. I've seen far worse, I wouldn't (and I do not) care about this, but I guess it's something really important to you, but why ?

Only because it would create a precedent ? Again, Alterac Valley is far worse a precedent since it will actually make that BG awful(er.)

Exactly what I meant. you're the one pretending to talk for everyone.

Society would say that you need pills, Random.
But We'd better say you need to go to gulag. It's called reeducation through labor.
