[FIX] Blizzlike? (blink bug report)

[FIX] Blizzlike? (blink bug report)

by Randomuser420 » Fri Dec 26, 2014 10:34 pm

Question: When did it become 'Blizzlike' to introduce new functionality into abilities that never existed in vanilla?

Well, most of you probably watched the "Blink Fixes" video which Nostalrius released some time ago. I did too.
There is a part where they detail "3D Blinking underwater" - basically, you get to blink in the direction you point while being underwater. Let's watch it in their video together:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ny2Hogb_k98#t=77

Now let's direct ourselves to a post made on the official wow forums in 2011:

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2674977856

Interesting. Let me quote some passages from it:

The problem with this ability currently is that it doesn't register a 3-dimensional plane. What I mean by this is that while underwater or during a phase in combat when you are able to move in 3-dimensions such as Kael'thas in Tempest Keep or Al'Akir in the final phase you find yourself unable to blink in the direction that you would like to.

If you decide to blink while in these environments the game puts you on a horizontal plane from the bottom of your character and only allows you to move horizontally from that position.

It honestly took me in the range of 10-15 minutes to find this post online, and I'm sure there is way more information out there - heck, from looking at that post, this functionality probably doesn't even exist in Warlords of Draenor and never has!

TLDR; If you make custom changes to Blink, don't call it a 1.12.1 server.

This is a good concern and I'm interested in what they have to say about it.

I knew this wasn't Blizzlike. But when I saw it I was happy to see they fixed it better than Blizzard themselves ever did. I don't mind the fix myself, as if Underwater PvP was ever even a thing. It's nothing but a quality of life change.
You could argue many changes that I don't want are the same deal, but this one I don't mind.

It's cool you like it, and you're probably not the only one. My issue is not with the quality of the change or the nature of it - everyone should be able to do what they want.

My issue, however, is calling your 1.12.1 server Blizzlike while implementing things that do not belong in this patch or even any other. That is the problem here.

Yeah, I know. I see the problem. I'm just saying I personally have no problem with this specific change.
I do however have issues with other changes that "might" be implemented on a later date, such as Battlegrounds queue'ing with a chat command anywhere in the world.
Something most privates have and some people think is completely necessary for a private. I wholeheartedly disagree on that term.

wtf, are you a fucking troll ?

if we start thinking like you, there's actually not a single private server you can call "blizzlike".

I barely prefer this minor change, which is totally not blizzlike breaking, than dealing with stupid donations gear, character auctions, 10g respc, etc...

ps : "blizzlike" is an ideal, it doesnt really exist btw

I have no interest in what the term "Blizzlike" means on a broad scope, other than when you say it's a "Blizzlike 1.12.1 server", you infer the meaning that the server stays true to the 1.12.1 patch.

This change does not stay true to the 1.12.1 patch, and that is the problem. Calling yourself something, and doing something else.

well, really, one could argue that blizzlike means like retail, but not necessarily exactly the same as retail

if it was exactly equal to retail it'd probably be called something else

really, I think this change is nice, and wouldnt drive anyone away

thats what matters

they're trying to stay true to blizzard's ideologies and content and difficulty and whatnot; if they fix their bugs its still blizzlike, though just not regarding the bugs

Hey man, I just think it's a shame that people are being deceived this way when they're obviously making custom content for the server which has no place in the 1.12.1 patch -at all-.

How are you even trying to defend that? What a joke.
