Starting For The First Time in Classic

by Darsithis » Sun May 10, 2015 8:48 pm

I never played classic World of Warcraft. I started in 3.3 as a nelf balance druid because my partner said that was the best talent tree at the time - I had no clue. I loved the old world and miss it. I switched to DK as soon as I could, though, since I was a player coming from WC3.

So I have a few questions. First, obviously, this being 1.12 leveling is much slower. Heirlooms do not exist. No LFR, no LFD, no group finder. No garrisons, no transmog, no mount panel, no toy panel, no pet panel. Sounds like a lot of fun, to be honest. How long would it normally take to reach level 60? Are there enough quests still or will I have to grind levels?

I currently play a DK tank, and have tanked since Ulduar. Out of the classes, what is the best at end-game tanking? Is druid okay at it? I have an urge to play a druid again like I did the first time through. Also, how well is raiding represented in this server? Is finding a guild/group difficult or easy?

And finally, PvP. Obviously my favorite class, DK, doesn't exist yet for a few more years. What's the best Alliance class for PvP?

It takes between 6 and 10 days of playtime to reach level 60. If you are leveling a melee class such as a warrior or rogue it will probably take longer than a caster/ranged class.

There is only one end-game tanking class: The Warrior. (Paladins and Druids can tank some trash mobs, but single target tanking is for Warriors)

There are tons of guild that are currently raiding, check out this thread.

Most classes do well in PVP as long as you are PVP-specced. (Note there is no dual-spec, so you are either PVP or PVE specced (or have enough gold to respec often))
