Getting started - WoW

by Easy Waters » Fri Oct 23, 2015 12:24 am

Hello players,
I am brand new to World of Warcraft. My experience to MMORPGs in fairly extensive, in a general sense, such as being self sufficient. I have tried very few classes since leveling is at a very enjoyable rate but actually experiencing the potential of a class takes a bit more time. So I decided to make this thread do receive feedback on a good starter class to get the whole WoW knowledge base in my head. I have rolled a rogue simply because I feel like it will fit my playstyle, but the progression seems awful. I chose a priest just to expand my horizon but felt it was a class I wouldn't enjoy endgame. Currently leveling a druid, which has been fun, I'm more of a solo player but I love the community thus far so I know a guild is in my very near future. I need a little insight on what class you guys may enjoy and why, and maybe a tid bit on which professions suit the class either early on or how to prepare for the late game content. The professions honestly have my head spinning but that'll be left for experiment.

Hope to hear from you guys!

Druid is fun to level, can choose whatever playstyle you want but Feral is the easiest/quickest way to level. You'll usually be stuck healing if you run a dungeon though, sometimes you'll get lucky and will be able to DPS ;)

End game druid is usually a healing role, keep that in mind. Good professions for a druid that can also net you decent coin are Herb/Alchemy. Skinning/Leathworking is ok, but you'll outlevel most of the stuff you can make, you can get some good things at the late stages of crafting though.

For a new player I'd recommend Herbalism and Alchemy as your two primary professions: you pick flowers to make potions which can help you level, and it's useful at level 60 too.

Cooking is good if you want to take the time to do it, and everyone should do First Aid. These are secondary professions so everyone can do them, in addition to your two primary ones.

Druid is fun: Levelling is usually easiest as feral, cat form for dps or bear if you fight multiple mobs. Always be ready to switch back to human form to heal or buff. Beware though, druids are expected to be healers at level 60 in dungeons and raids, though they can do any spec in PvP.

If you're looking for a new class, hunter and warlock have pets so are very easy to level. Hunters use their bow or gun to do damage while their pet tanks, while warlocks use a variety of demons for pets, with spells like fear and damage over time spells to kill enemies.

Thank you all for the comments. I think I will take your advice on the alchemy and herblore.
