Leveling up weapon skill

Hey can you guys help me out on how do weapon skills increase?

First of all, I'm lvl36 on my warrior, I leveled exclusively by grinding and still, my weapon skill is a whole level (5 skills) behind on every level. When I level up the difference is 10. I usually grind lower level mobs (2-3 levels lower).

Second is, that I got my Whirlwind axe and have to level up the 2h axe skill from 0. What's the most effective way doing so? Any help is appreciated.

Well, weapon skill increases from hits, AND the level of the mob you are hitting. You will not gain those last few weapon levels if you insist on hitting mobs 2-3 levels below you. However, that is a good place to start for the WW-axe. You just need to hit a mob (AT AROUND YOUR LEVEL - NO GREY MOBS) as much as possible. Time to spam hamstring!
