Lazy. Picked the class with easy consumables, good income and fast lvling. Also easier to lvl alts when you can buy all the crap.

Reasons I started playing, and then kept playing hunter as my first main:

1. Bows AND knives...and even guns later!!
2. Having a pet
3. BEING ABLE TO TAME NEW PETS LIKE SPIDERS N STUFF
4. mail armor + 2h weapons + guns + mount = ultimate badass (saw my hero in noob zone being a showoff, he took me on a tour of Kalimdor!)
5. feign death to mess with noobs
6. control pet to tame orc starters and mess with noob orcs
7. versatility - tank/dps pet, if pet dies then kite, if kite fails then melee, melee fails then shadowmeld/feign
8. GOTTA GET 55 FOR UPCOMING HERO CLASS! (towards end of BC I was on my re-rolled hunter and I heard about DK's around then)

Notice a lot of these perks really only mean anything in Vanilla-WotLK. I ditched my hunter in Cata, was no longer fun then.
