Shamans are quite easy to kill in group battles. They don't have anything that makes them really hard to target for a while. Spells such as Vanish, Feign Death, Blink, AoE fear and other stuff make other classes have a lot of survivability.

Shamans are using a ton of global cooldowns on abilities but it doesn't compare to the hard CC that other classes have. Grounding Totem is nice but you're trading one GCD for one of their GCD's, as Shamans have the most mana problems stalling for the sake of stalling isn't what you want as Shamans go oom faster.

Earth shock is an annoyance but it doesn't compare to hard CC. A stun, kick, fear, seduce, sleep etc are better at hard locking an opponent out. Even Paladins have a 6 sec stun.

Shamans also don't have an 'oh shit' button like many other classes in PvP spec.

Rogues will stunlock you while dealing damage, even with mail armor + shield you will die. Mages will freeze you in place and if you catch a CS you're dead. Better spend time juking that CS while doing nothing in the mean time. You can hold off a Warlock's fear a couple of times but once it hits (and they either wand your tremor or send their pet after it or you get out of range) you're a sitting duck.

Shamans are spending a ton of GCD on totems, shocks and purges that it makes it hard to really go on the offensive, and if you're resto you're not going to deal a lot of damage anyway.

As a support you can't dispell really important magic effects on your allies like a Priest or Paladin can. You also can't lock an enemy out of the fight.

I love Shamans and they're a ton of fun to play but I also know that relative to other classes they are easy kills. Once you get caught in a group battle you're very likely to die.
