Level spec?

Level spec?

by raz0r » Fri Jan 29, 2016 4:55 pm

About me: Level 19 Ele Shaman

My current build is: http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#hE

I go OOM after 2 mobs which is really annoying, in addition it takes three times as long to cast a single Lightning Bolt while in combat due to spell knockback. I find myself using auto-melee/shocks more than I actually cast Lightning Bolt. I'm quite frustrated with the way things are going.

==========================================================
Should I spend the one gold on a respec to go Enhancement?
-----Or-----
Should I stay the course and incorporate Enhance into my current build?
==========================================================

I'm leaning towards keeping what points I have in Ele and continuing in Enhance to conserve gold.
Thoughts?

This is why most people level as Enh. It's up to you if you want to respec or just start putting points into enh. I respec'd at 20 just to get 2handed weapons.

You could continue the path like this if you want to continue going 1H + Shield: http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#hE0zxcooZAVbzV0ux

I take the 1 point in 2H anyway because sometimes it's fun to PvP with. 2H leveling isn't all that great anyway. 1H + Shield makes you much more durable.

Either way I would not spend 1G at your level to respec. You're going to take Convection and Concussion eventually anyway.

Very interesting build.

I was thinking something similar, but maybe respec'ing into full Enhancement would have been better. Never know.. Making spec decisions isn't my forte.

I haven't played Vanilla Shaman since actual Vanilla and I didn't get very far.
I appreciate your responses, Deadletter and Guy.

I would mix builds. A build like this could both solo and heal dungeon runs. You don't entirely wack one in favor of the other. It also has 2/2 Ankh and +hit, which is incredibly valuable since it affects both melee+spells. When I leveled Shamans in the past, I always liked having 13 resto for these.

Probably this is not the best, but at least I can say that it works for me. I am picking all of the defensive talents in the enhancement tree: 5xShield specialization; 3xThundering strikes; 2xImproved ghost wolf; 5xToughness & Parry. After that I will go Elemental Weapons and then the talents to increase melee dps.

You will be quite tanky with this build and still have a good dps.

if u wanna go ele then I think it can work

I've got a lv26 ele shaman.

regarding mana issues I dont really have any. I can go through at least 3 mobs without drinking. Key is to use bandages and not shock more than once or twice per mob ( flame shock is the best cuz of mana efficiency). My rotation is to bolt once or twice, flameshock and go melee. Very important is to use fast wep ( dagger) with flametongue. Searing totem is very good dps and low mana use. Gearwise you need intel>stam>spirit in that order. Not sure about 3rd attribute actually since with that build there is use for some agi too. Avoid cloth, get the leather/mail even if only one of the attribute is really useful ( like in the case of gorilla gear).

it helps to have some sagefish food buff for the mp5 and emergency potions.

focus on doing green level quests, you will fight much easier.

im considering following something like this http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#hxbuqcGqoVVb0N you can put dodge points into imp ele shield/ ele devastation into reverb if you dont want to melee this much.

I focused on getting the shield spec and imp ghost wolf and then ele. When i get 31 in ele i will get the +5 melee crit and ele devast. Im not sure how useful ele dev is because there's no easy access to spellcrit talents. I rather not put 20 points in resto for a leveling build.

Ele Shaman does work indeed. If you want to play it, just play it. Especially after Lightning Mastery things get interesting. On your build though I'd have to comment. Earth's Grasp is pretty useless unless you really want that extra 20% range on Earthbind. In the long run you're better off with 4% extra damage from your Shocks and Lightning spells, aka Concussion.

Gearing with leather / mail is idd the way to go. All that armor goes a long way.

I'm at 25 do you know which talents I should do the build in order of? I'm interesting in respeccing to Enhancement too.
