[PvE] The BiS for the current content (updated for AV!)

The gear list is intended for fighting anything, using Greater Arcane Elixir, Wizard Oil and Flask of Supreme Power (+ Major mana potions and Demonic / Dark runes), using either the Winter's Chill spec or the Arcane Power spec. There isn't enough hit gear out yet for there to be a different gear set for trash and bosses, but do keep in mind that you deal zero damage if you're out of mana and need to gear accordingly for fights where mana may be an issue for you.

Additional notes
I don't play or always keep track of where the PvE server is right now, so if you notice this thread needs to be updated for a new patch or that I've missed out on items that should be in the game, please PM me and I will update it!

The only item that is interesting for a mage in raiding right now should be the Azuresong Mageblade (for when it becomes good), yay!

Since I've played on the PvP server since launch, I know for a fact that this gear setup combined with major mana + dark / demonic runes is far and away enough mana to sustain you on the longest fights available. If you are still going out of mana, it is not the fault of your gear, it is the fault of your guild for having shoddy boss kill times. Adjust accordingly, but don't blame me.

Best enchants currently in the game
7 int to wrists
4 stats to chest (or 100 mana to chest if that's your thing)
5 to all resistances to shoulders (Argent Dawn Exalted)
5 to all resistances to cloak
8 SP to legs/head (Arcanum of Focus)
Minor Speed Increase to Feet

Is this list accurate? Im new to mage and still not 60 but doesnt look right...
1st thing is the wand, AV quest reward is better, shouldn't the hat from strat ud be there too?
Also the waist from AV is better...

This is for the PVE server, AV shouldnt be out on yet on the PVE server. Same for the hat from strat ud.

What do you think of hands of power(rank 12 eventually) and rank 10 helmet.

I mean r10 head + hands of power vs dragonskin cowl + r7 gloves is 1 crit + 18 sp vs 18 sp + 21 sp, so I wouldn't go there, but now when you mention the pvp sets, the R12 legs are better than the skyshroud leggings.

I also just did the math with this gear setup and found crit to be worth ~8.15 sp (with flask and everything), it would have to be over 9 sp for r10 helm + r12 gloves to beat dragonskin cowl and r7 gloves, il add it as an honorable mention though.

I don't know how much sp hands of power had back then so they might not be worth it.

But when you get rank 12 its a 9sp for 1 crit tradeoff, and with the lack of crit buffs and crit items i was hungry for getting any crit I could.

Crit from gear is honestly a pretty minor deal considering the crit you get from other sources. Winters chill is 10, songflower 5, dragonslayer 10, DM N 3, int gives you another ~4 crit.

I would probly go for the r10 helm if I didnt have dragonslayer, dm buffs and the songflower. Assuming im R12 that is.

Hands of Power is 18 SP at this patch.

Yeah I was assuming no dragonslayer or dm buffs. Thats the setup i ran with. I'd run what you have durnig songflower then switch it out after songflower timed out.

Also i dont understand if this is supposed to be BiS preraid or BiS raid included, because on one hand you included Saphiron s drape from Onyxia but you havent included Netherwind crown in the list over Dragonskin cowl.

I forgot about the t2 head, added. Also, the dire maul items should be in the game, the devs have just fucked up, they fixed it within a day or so on PvP, just remind them about it and I hope theyl do something about it.
