I applaud your interest in trying really immerse yourself in nostalgia right from the beginning by using the original disks however it's probably much easier to just use the fully patched and configured Nostalrius Installer.

well i can do that, but im helping my friend play and on his computer he doesn't have 5GB+ of free room on his drive but has an SSD and on that website you can dictate which disk you want the files to save too. if we could get it to save on his other drive that would be great. but it tries to save on his main drive.

Take a look at this post. You may configure your torrent client to download to another drive. Ignore the Mac portion.
