Question about pvp ranks

So does having a higher rank make you more resistant to stuff or no? was doing some wpvp in blackrock mountain and rank 12 or 13 priest resisted my silence, fear, grenade, mind blast all after another? is this jsut shitty luck or what?

Rank has no effect on elemental resistances / spell "misses" / or any other "RESIST" when targeted by a spell/ability.
