Very immature community?

Very immature community?

by slimanes13 » Mon Nov 09, 2015 11:50 am

I just tried this server for the last few days and i can't say I'm impressed. Because this is an emulator of a 10 year old game I had naively expected the community to be mature adults, people that played back in vanilla would at least be 24/25 by now.

Yet I just spent 2 hours in durotar and it was almost enough to make me quit. The chat was worst then at it's peak in vanilla barrens. People mostly refused to group up for KILL COUNT quests, not even loot quests. Some alliance were camping Tiragarde Keep, healing the npc's just trying to make life hard for lowbies.

Then I decide to check the forums... Big surprise most of the threads are immature posts insulting each other and trying to flame each other. Reading about 60's camping lowbies just for the sake of making life hard for them. Not to defend any alliance territory or anything reasonable.

Is this community all teenagers or are the adults just that immature? PVP server does not mean we have to be rude or total jerks to each other. I understand that vanilla was the same and ganking/griefing/insulting was very common but at least Blizzard had some rules and there was potentially other pvp servers to join.

Is this really what those that created this community wanted? I believe some base rules about mutual respect and about moving on after camping some guy for an hour would greatly help this community. Just my opinion.

(english is not my first languague.)

You have to embrace the retardation, otherwise you'll have a tough time here.
That being said, you can leave channels if the retards get too loud. I only use /world when looking for groups.
I thought this was a dating site?

Common mistake. You mistook age for maturity. That said, there is a massive community here, you shouldn't judge the many, by the deeds of a few.

This server has a very large population, 3-4 times the amount a retail vanilla server had so of course among those 8000 people online there are going to be people like those you mentioned. Generally talking to people while grouping for quests and instances and such I've not had too many bad experiences.

You just happened to find many people like them together.

I often give out free bags and gear for low lvls in durotar, you just weren't as lucky
Was good to have you all

qft - kill them with kindness and maturity or just straight up ignore those players.
PvP forums inherently will always have the immature stigma that you described no matter how old the playerbase will be. When people get mad, they just can't help themselves.

I didn't realize the population was this high compared to a retail server. This explains a lot.

My experience this morning was much better, maybe logging in at peak hours wasn't the smartest idea either.

Its called anonymity :). Just disable general chats like world, trade, general... I havent taken a look at these since lvl 20, just create a new tab up in your chat and join the general chats there and leave them in your main chat window that you show --> You can still write in these channels in the background without seeing it and ppl generally whisper you as answer.
