Now that this first step is done, next one will be to deploy this system for donjons at first, then raids, battlegrounds

battlegrounds

What they mean is that BG's will be run on a seperate server (node), not cross-realm battlegrounds.

Cross-realm BG's will not be anytime soon - if at all.

This isn't cross realm between two seperate realms, this is clustering a technique that regards using several servers to host and retain separate data but all for a sole realm, essentially instances/bg's etc on a separate entity but still relaying information, it was the same with with kalimdor/azeroth on retail, occasionally kalimdor or azeroth cluster could crash but not the other and as a result all people in one continent would be disconnected.

This would be a fantastic answer to instance resets and bg lag, however I don't believe it addresses the main issue at hand for me and several other autistic euros, world pvp would still likely be affected by server performance due to the sheer amount of shit occurring all at the same time?

Did you mongos who are giving the OP shit not watch the video?

Within the first 15 seconds, it says that this change will make cross-realm BGs possible. Which by the way, is fail as fuck.

Well this has gotten out of hand already. The title is so misleading and false.

Clustering and Cross-Server are two different things.

1. Cross Server gameplay will not come to Nost. It is a feature in WotLK, if I'm not mistaken.

2. The best way to describe clustering is to look at the over-population system that Guild Wars 2 runs. Essentially what Clustering will do, instead of 50 people fighting for tigers in STV, there will be 5 instances of STV (the number of instances is just a random number, nothing set in stone)

No, that is wrong.

The clustering will initially mean that server A will run dungeons and server B will run everything else. When that works reliably, the team will increase the number of nodes in the cluster. So server A will run dungeons, server B will run battlegrounds, server C will run raids, server D will run Kalimdor and server E will run Easter Kingdoms. If server B craps out, the players on other nodes will not even notice it and can continue playing. If necessary, the number of nodes can be increased more and more - having one server running nothing but Alterac Valley, another running just Silithus, and so on. But there won't be phasing or instancing of individual maps - no Barrens 1 and Barrens 2 crap.
