I honestly don't see what entitles you to get your characters from an old server (where you didn't even level up from 1-60).
That would be the same if I requested my characters from Retail to this server (which obviouslt would be declined right away).

This is definitely not the same.
1) Because retail wow still exists, so you can just continue your character from retail on retail. You have the choice.

2) These people had no choice, the old Nostalrius doesn't exist anymore, and they have no way to play anymore their characters. The admins took the decision (the players had no choice on this) to delete a server with maybe 200+ actives players, for a new one with 5000+...
They just spent time on it, as everybody is doing here, and it finally get closed.
So, yeah it was a "new" server, but it's still Nostalrius, with the same rules, same scripts, same admins...
Now, 4 months later, it's not really anymore a real "new" server. It will not impact the server to get some 60+ characters into the game... (and even more with some conditions, like an amount limit of gold, no pvp grade, etc...)

3) A looooooooot of people played on Retail and could (if it was the same, as you said) ask for a recovery.
Here it is just a few player, not even 100 I guess, that come from the old Nostalrius - the one that has allowed the opening of the Nostalrius Begins we all are enjoying now.

The only reason for people refusing this legit request, is the jealousy. "Eeeh why did I lost time in leveling and not them ? No way, they have to make the 1-60 as I did!!!!".
The thing is they already did that on the old server...
(Btw, I'm not for the recovery for people who had an instant 55 or 60).

maybe limited to :
- one and only one character
- limited gold
- wait at least for BWL to be open / cleaned
- pvp rank might be a serious pbm

and maybe ask for levelling a new char to lvl 60 on NRbegins, wich will be transformed in the old one - just to prevent the lvl55 instant abuse.

As it has been said, Nostalrius was NOT a beta when we played it. Had about 70 days+ of /played there.

In any case it would be nice to have a blue answer! Hello to the old team, and the good ol'pals!

How on Earth will they ensure that? I guess the old names are not reserved when creating new characters.

Why did the staff decide/need to shut down the old server to make this one? (I am just curious about the history, I didn't know about this until I read the post above explaining it.)

They had to close it down because we had a lack of population, because not enough advertising.

you should put your cards on the table when youre trying to convince the community. ive read that nostalrius has previously tried a lot of different server models, including instant 60s, while competing with nostalgeek, your local rival.

so nobody knows how close to blizzlike/nostalrius begins youve actually been playing, except of those few who were with you and who obviously would like to have that chars back too. the vanilla retails characters are probably closer to what we're playing now than yours.

and even if you manage to convince a few ppl on the forum for your proposal, i wonder if you actually think you'll ever see your chars back.
even if you played 1:1 like we do now, which is not even remotely imaginable, so it would be fair/OK to give you your chars: do you think they have a backup of your chars? do you think the devs have the time to handle your problem while there are 1000 other more important open issues?

Il s'agit par contre de convaincre la nouvelle communauté désormais. Vous pouvez effectivement poster un sujet dès à présent dans la partie suggestion pour proposer l'idée, mais je doute que les joueurs actuels soient favorables à cette récupération (qui est toujours techniquement possible bien sur).

and say that pvp recovery should be deleted.
honestly, stuff can be farmed easaly.
I spend 7 month of my life to be first and up a r13 with the first rank bug honor(11 weeks of p1 for r12 -r13). Just tell me how this is less important than the time you spend in your t1 chararacter?

There was on the beta 1 r14 (dunno if he is still playing) and maybe 5 r13. I don t think this will unbalance the server.

I really not care about recovery i already start a new rogue which is epic geared now so.... if there is a recovery it s welcome would be a great reward. Because you are enjoying this server? Thanks the staff. And thanks to all the old players and the bug they have reported since 4 years of /played.

Dont be selfish just to get your crappy geared character back, the pvp recovery isn t a problem for the server.

The only acceptable argue they can have to denied this recovery is the only difference between the two servers. The instant 55.
So to actually make a recovery legit ? we should just lvl a 1-60 character on the new server and make the recovery on this char and the problem is solved.
