Maybe 5 minutes before a planned server restart, the system announces it, then at 1 minute, then at 15 seconds?

I lol'ed at "Planned server restarts should have a warning." Isn't that what a plan is for? To let you know ahead of time? I could be wrong, but then again that's what the word planned means.

They usually come out with an announcement on red letters, as detailed in the other post.
I'm only guessing that it's not always practical to restart the server in a designated maintenance window at the same time each week.

While I've personally never seen, I feel like 5 minutes is too short of a warning. Feenix had it at 15 minutes.

The initial time a planned restart is announced has the maximum time. Increments of 5 minutes until the 1 minute mark are all announced. 5 minutes is long enough for someone to get to an inn.

I think what is going on is lately there have been a lot of unplanned restarts. Over the last few days I have been on when the server suddenly crashed or was restarted at least 5-6 times (including just now.) None of those times did I see a warning message so I am assuming they were not planned.

We got robbed of a Strat UD Baron kill, standing outside his house when server went down. Planned restarts with downtime longer than an instant restart need longer notice than 15 minutes...

wait what? the server had an uptime of above 4 days, meaning not a single crash / restart

and literally EVERY planned restart has been announced 15 minutes prior to restarting the server except for one back in may where the connection to the database was corrupted (or something like this) and progress wasn't saved

you should probably check your internet connection or learn to use the .server info command
or check the website if you want to know if the server is down
