Clearer Stance about "Safe-spotting"/Removing guards at LHC

by Killstick » Tue Nov 17, 2015 8:38 am

Alot of post are popping up in various sections about safe-spotting.

I would suggest the staff to state more clearly what they see as safe-spotting (preferably with some examples like Light Hope Chapel, Booty Bay, Gadget etc) and what the concequences are. Is standing in the middle of a town where a normal player would expect to be protected by guards but isn't due to guard placement safe-spotting? Is standing on a roof without shooting through the structure safe-spotting?...

I also think this is taking on proportions that never happend in retail. This due to alot of players knowing about these spots now, alot of players know they can use this for honor and the high server pop which makes this actually effective to do. I kinda see this in the same league as DM N. Its ok if some do it, but when it gets abused by alot of players it stops being ok.

There are simply too many of these post going up atm. The threads never go friendly (ged gud, nice binds, PVE that way >>>> etc). And people arn't sure what is allowed and what is not. I'm sure you get alot of tickets about this aswell. So this could save you alot of staff time aswell.

I would also suggest that you remove the guards at Light Hope Chapel as was the case prior to the naxx patch on retail. So we can have some world PvP instead of some bored honor farmers which you almost cannot attack without agroing guards yourself.

Agreed 100%.
Imo it should be a high priority change, especially since it's so easy to do.

I'm trying to figure out how to report players for safe spotting and actually get the report seen

Bump

Just had a NE "Wowpvp" hit me from a roof in Winterspring; guards attacked me cause he took damage from lightning shield....

Stuff where you can't counterplay is just boring.

About time this should be done. Guards don't even prevent PvP in the area, they have a huge deadzone, and you often can effortlessly gank people since they can't retaliate. Just remove the guards or make them behave passively, as intended, until the Naxx patch arrives.

I made a ticket about the guy in Everlook yesterday. I got a reply from a GM sometime later. He asked me for a screenshot. So i would advise people to make more screens. I didn't make one and the hunter was gone by the time the GM went to check. I asked him what the sanction was. He told me he couldn't tell me since each case is reviewed seperatly. So again its very unclear towards both the guy ganking and the one being ganked.

Maybe the guy on the roof/safe spot thinks he is doing nothing wrong and might be risking a ban.
We might be making reports, wasting our own time and GM time, for stuff that isn't bannable.

So just take a clear stance on this please.

Would like to add my opinion on safe spotting. Just been warned by a GM - "Leythia" for safespotting on gadgedzan roof (tube), and was very disappointed to know that it is not allowed on Nostalrius. I require Nostalrius officials to give a detailed comment on the causes of that decision. Safespotting was and is allowed on retail and is an essential part of the game which lets you bring some fun into the game. Anyone can get to some safe spots (gadg, goldshire, etc.) with a little patience and effort this is not some cheating or using glitches. While banning that u ruin some part of the game, which definetly is a lot of fun. I think if u play a pvp server world pvp should be allowed in any form which is allowed by the game itself including safespotting. Please feel free to comment on my opinion, would be interesting to know what other players think about it. I think there should be a general vote on the forums so anyone can vote whether they like to get safespotting banned or not. Cos the game is for the players and not for GMs

If you are the griefer on the roof it may be fun. For the person who is getting shot there is no counterplay as the person on the roof can simply kill you while you try to get up there. Also its always higher lvls ganking lower lvls, even if it is allowed i think its sad. Ganking lowbies in the open world is allowed. You jsut need to go out of your way to kill them where they think they are guarded. Anyway, i will keep advising everyone to make screens of people doing this. We can only hope for some high profile player to get a ban so this gets straighted out

And thanks to the gamemasters we don't have everyone botting, hacking or buying gold.

Also, safespotting wasn't allowed on retail. I remember my hard earned 24h ban for safespotting 2 days in Booty Bay back then.

All these happen to live wow classic, back then, 11 years ago. Why do you ask for a fix? I mean if they fix that, why not fix the dots-should-tag-mobs thing and not having various a**holes steal your dotted targets? And so on with every issues that was corrected anyway in TBC or later.
