I had to create more than one account yesterday when trying to start playing on Nostalrius. The main site, https://en.nostalrius.org, lets you create a username and password with, what seems to be, an unlimited number of letters and/or numbers. The first time I created an account, I gave it a really long password, nearly 20 characters. When I tried to login through the game client, I received the error "Unable to connect."
In the game client, I noticed when retyping my password, after the 16th letter, the remaining characters were not appearing in asterisks as I typed. I counted the length of the username and password fields in the game client to be 16 characters long. I returned to the main site and created a second account with both a username and password under 16 characters in length and was successful in logging through the game client.
To save new players some frustration, perhaps the main Nostalrius web site can have the username and password fields for account creation formatted for a maximum of 16 alphanumerics each? This way it syncs up better with the 1.12.1 game client. Would save people a lot of troubleshooting and multiple unnecessary accounts being created.
Also, to any staff reading, I can give you the account information of the ones I created that don't presently work so they can be deleted. I have no use for accounts that can't login and don't want my IP associated with numerous accounts.
