What was the ping of American players?

by trefer » Sun Dec 14, 2014 6:22 pm

Hello everyone I was wondering what the ms for American players was. I was unable to stay connected and had ms of around 4000 and was dc all day yesterday. This is strange because I am able to play on other private servers without issue. This is making no sense to me and I really only want to play on this server. Please help me out here. I have no clue what went on.
I was able to log onto vanillagaming and just walk around for 30 minutes with 150 ms and no dc but then try and log on to the test server and was hit with 4000ms and a dc.

4000ms would be impossible just distance related, even on the other side of Earth.
There have been other threads from American players reporting their pings during the test (I'm not sure if they were east or west coast) and they reported iirc around 250-400.
However keep in mind that the server was ran in debug mode during the test, so increased ping was pretty much inevitable.
I myself experienced around 110 ping, and I'm from Iceland. So I'm definitely closer. So I'd imagine on release, maybe I'd be running around 80 ping.

Unless you are on the moon, you shouldn't have 4000ms. That is not a distance related number you have here. Even the exact opposite side of the planet(longest possible distance) shouldn't be this high. You had some other kind of problem. Mine ran fine, except for a few DCs and ping spikes. Us in US East are in the low 100s. People farther west are reporting higher numbers, which is expected, but it should still be quite playable if it averages <200.
