hello fellow nostalrius players! Pissed off and saddened by the loss of the server, I was moved to go over a decades worth of observances and memories of the gradual change of wow and made a recording that I wanted to share!

extremely well spoken and great insight to the view of a veteran from my rather newbie perspective on the WoW as a whole, the passion for this server is way, way more than anything i have ever witnessed, how could anyone dare to defile this love for something that is not there anymore.

I hope that Mike understands our thoughts on this topic as he has been there since the very beginning, he surely doesnt owe us anything but he could atleast acknowledge the pure passion for this and atleast give us somewhat of a honest answer on this.

I'd like to add that I also think this is a much better way of explaining what makes vanilla wow better than retail rather than saying "retail is for casuals." Vanilla is more fun for both casuals and hardcore raiders. Some people might not understand why they love vanilla and think it's because of some features like LFR, easy leveling, and the like that ruined the game. But the reality is that it is much more, and you adequately put all that into your video.

I don't know if J. Allen Brack was trying to split up the movement or was he just misguided about why we want vanilla servers when he suggested "pristine servers" But just saying certain features ruined the game is undermining the issue and misrepresenting the true reason for why vanilla is much better than retail. Which could confuse people like Mr. Brack.

By proving that vanilla is better for us all, casuals and raiders, much more people will join the movement and not only will we have a better shot of getting legacy servers, but we might even influence Blizzard's decision on a future expansion or a game. 

Thank you all for your kind responses! And yeah, I'm not really sold on 'pristine servers' as a concept either. It's not vanilla wow. Not that I think it's a bad idea in and of itself, I do think it would actually be an improvement on the game as it is now... but as far as meeting the demand for the old content, as it was? It's a pretty crummy compromise!

Not that I'm 100% anti anything new-wow related, of course. I think it's entirely possible that blizzard could theoretically recapture the essence of what made wow great in new content. If they could actually give me everything I loved about vanilla in current wow, I'd be over the moon! I think it's probably unlikely, although stranger things have happened. And I agree that the legacy movement can only have a positive influence on WoW. There is still a large audience for vanilla out there, and the more people publicly discussing the old game and what they liked about it, the more these ideas will gain traction and gradually filter in to blizzard's awareness.

I feel pretty positive about that so far, as there's been a huge response and a lot of discourse as a result of Nost. And it's pretty cool that already blizzard have not only acknowledged the existence of private servers, but also the demand for old wow! That's something they stubbornly denied for over a decade! So that's not bad progress when you consider the timeframe this has happened in. Who knows? Maybe Nostalrius was like a focal point for the love of vanilla that still exists in the world, needed to bring it all together and gave it momentum! and hopefully, maybe, possibly, (fingers crossed) we'll one day be able to look back at Nostalrius as the catalyst for the movement that brought legacy servers back to wow! Time will tell, but stay vigilant! Nil desperandum, y'all.
